Boavista hosted the 2014 Macmillan Longest Day Challenge Finals

Boavista hosted the 2014 Macmillan Longest Day Challenge FinalsGolfers across the UK and Europe have raised a fantastic £740,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support by braving the toughest battle in golf and completing the famous Longest Day Golf Challenge.

In their bid to complete the sponsored golf marathon, almost 900 teams nationwide took to the greens and played an epic four rounds of golf, from dawn to dusk, tackling 72 holes, around 300 shots and roughly a 20 mile walk on the longest day of the year.

The Challenge Final winners ‘Four Cubed,’ from the Kent and East Sussex area of England comprised Simon Miller (Sweetwoods Park GC) Matthew Aston (Crowborough Beacon GC), Nigel Oliver (Hemsted Forest GC) and Matthew Bradley (The Nevill GC). The Four Cubed team had made their original “challenge” four times as difficult by playing their rounds on four different couses. Hence the team name.

Loren Taylor, Macmillan’s Golf Programme Manager said: “This year’s Longest Day Golf Challenge has seen the biggest number of teams take part yet! Because of this support, we are able to continue to provide vital support services which help make a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer and their families. A big thank you to everyone who was involved with this year’s challenge.”
