Access for All

Access for AllRotary Club Estoi Palace has been providing support to Estoi’s Casa do Povo, in a number of different ways, for a number of years.

In its most recent contribution, the Club has organised a metal wheelchair ramp for the entrance of the building so that disabled patrons can more easily access the facilities. The ramp itself was manufactured and installed by Metalgarve, a local metal working firm based in Bordeira.

The ramp is installed, as Past President Rotary Club Estoi, Kent Ringborn and Odette Sousa from Casa do Povo look on.The work, which was paid for by charity donations to the Club, was organised by Rotarian Natacha Nowack through the Club’s Service Committee. Natacha arranged for one of her exchange students, Jean-Baptiste Mondon, a French student metal worker from Tours in France, to work for Metalgarve as an intern during the manufacture of the ramp.

The ramp itself obviously had to comply with safety regulations and Metalgarve provided the necessary expertise to achieve this.

It is just one more way that the Club gets involved in providing help to the local community in the Central Algarve.

If you are interested in learning more about Rotary Club Estoi Palace or the charities which we support, please contact Club President Robin Wilson at robinwilsongolf@gmail.com.

The Club is also sponsoring the formation of a Rotaract Club to be based in São Bras do Alportel. Rotaract Clubs are part of Rotary International, and are for young people aged between 18 years and 30 years of age who wish to make a contribution to the Community.
