As Serranas is a ladies’ networking group for those living away from the coast that meets once a month in the São Brás – Vilamoura - Alte area. Started 14 years ago it now numbers 35 members and has raised money through its coffee mornings for a wide variety of Algarvean charities. Following a vote at the group’s AGM last year, it was Madrugada’s turn, and last week the group handed over a cheque for €900 to Madrugada President Alison Blair.
The event was held on the truly spectacular viewing terrace of the Alte Hotel and included sales of plants, books and produce. In thanking As Serranas for the donation Alison Blair said:
‘Once again this demonstrates how individual groups along the Algarve are supporting Madrugada in its quest to bring palliative care to the community and help those and their families affected by life limiting illness. It is never going to be easy and we still have a long way to go, but with groups like this behind us the outlook is bright.’
