The hot weather returns

6252Hot weather returned on Friday and will continue at least until the beginning of next week, a situation that has led Portugal’s weather service to put 12 districts under a 'Yellow Warning'.

"In the coming days, starting on Friday, we will have a temperature rise. The sky will be cloudless apart from in a few interior regions. However, the most significant factor is the rise in temperature and therefore a hot weather warning has been issued,” says the weather service.

The Algarve will reach between 32 and 40 degrees and the districts of Braga, Braganca, Beja, Castelo Branco, Evora, Guarda, Lisbon, Setúbal, Santarém, Portalegre, Vila Real and Viseu will be under the 'Yellow Warning' between 11:00 Friday and 22:00 Saturday but this probably eill be extended through Sunday.

Friday will see 37 degrees Celsius in Evora, Beja, Santarém and Castelo Branco, 35 in Portalegre, 34 in Lisbon, Vila Real, Guarda and Bragança, 33 in Braga and Faro and 24 in Porto and Viana do Castelo.

Saturday in the Algarve should hit hight 30s or just over 40 degrees.

Hot temperatures will remain at least until Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

I have read that this summer was already the 2nd hottest recorded in Portugal. The forecast for Monday has temperatures up to 47 degrees in the Alentejo. 47.4°C in 2003 is the official record.
