Opening of Art Exhibition - Sept 9thAt the opening of a new exhibition last weekend, artists Barbara Mountford and Greg MacDonald were introduced by Emanuel Sancho, the Director of Museu do Trajo in São Bras. Complimenting the eclectic mix of subjects and painting styles, an unusual aspect of the exhibition is the relationship between the two artists.

Greg MacDonald is a teacher and Barbara Mountford his protégé. Recognizing her innate aptitude as an artist he has coached her over 10 years to become a talented portrait painter working mostly with watercolors.
Gradually adapting and improving her painting techniques, additionally Greg’s lessons have presented her with challenges to produce floral compositions as well as charcoal and pencil drawings, also on display.
As a teacher Greg provides a wide variety of stimuli, experiences and materials to extend his students and encourage experimentation.

His personal capabilities are evident in the exhibition showing off his considerable talent and the broad range of subjects and techniques that excite him. It is this range of skills that make him an ideal teacher able to recognize his students’ aptitudes and draw on his own artistic gifts and knowledge to advise and help them.
Considered by many to be one of the most expert exhibitions held at the museum, special thanks are extended to Anneke and Peter Verschoor Kuipers who coordinate the shows and have hands-on involvement.

Greg’s small group lessons take place at Vale Fuzeiros, S.B. Messines on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Telephone: 282 332 265.

The New Gallery containing the exhibition at Museu do Trajo in São Brás is open every day from 2pm until 5pm. The exhibition runs until November 6th.
