First 'bad weather ride' Algarve Senior Bikers

ASBThe February ride was to the west coast and the Monchique hills. Unfortunately, not much was seen of either areas due the fact the it was actually raining through the mist as the 24 riders battled with the elements to complete the ride, organised by Toby Day.

The highlight of the day was the chance to dry out and the nice warm soup that began the excellent lunch at Restaurant Maximino near Caldas de Monchique. The entertainment was provided by a rider who will remain anonymous. After 3 attempts to get into his new wet weather riding suit gave up and accepted he was going to get soaked anyway. His antics lightened the miserable day for those who were privileged to witness any of his attempts, and the result of getting some of the zips mixed up could easily have caused him some pain.

This was the first ride that the ASB members have had to cope with bad weather since the group was formed 6 years ago.

Coffee by the river in Tavira, followed by lunch at Moto Clube de Faro

The March ride was blessed with bright sunshine and 28 riders toured through hills around Sao Bras de Alportel before being led down to Tavira by organiser John Heffernan for a coffee by the river.
Then it was along the coast to Faro for lunch as guests of the Moto Clube de Faro. As well as providing a good lunch all present were given a book about the famous Faro concentration which takes place in July
and is attended by thousands of bikers from all over Europe.
