Opening doors, with kindness

At a time when we’re beset with doom, gloom and bad news, this little story comes as a ray of welcome sunshine. It’s about a group of local people who have decided “it’s time to help people who have dropped through the net”. “Small Acts of Kindness” is the name, and their first beneficiary is a special brand of superwoman, known simply as Gil (as she can’t stand her full name).

The Dream Association

Founded in 2010 by Willemijn Van Der Brink, João Miguel Moreno and Celia Maria Rodrigues Monteiro. with the intention to improve the quality of life for children and youth in the Vila Real de Santo Antonio community.

Fun & educational activities at affordable prices

The Dream Association (Associação Sonhar) in Vila Real de Santo Antonio have launched their program of activities, of which all classes are bi-lingual. This non-profit association provide healthy, playful, educative activities to the community at a very low tuition fee, (€1 euro for children and €2 for adults).

International Quiz night every Wednesday

Every Wednesday night is 'International Quiz night' at Café Inglês, Silves. A chance for like minded folk, whatever their nationality, whatever their age, to get together in a relaxed, informal environment and have some fun. All are welcome.

Residência Segura (Safe Residence Program) Celebrates its 2nd Anniversary.

A gathering took place at Loulé GNR station on 26th January 2012 to mark the 2nd anniversary of the forming of the Safe Residence Program (SRP). Some 35 residents representing 17 villages who have joined the program attended the event which was hosted by Capitão Abel Arcanjo de Sousa Adriano, Commandante do Destascamento Territorial da GNR de Loulé and overall in charge of the SRP which operates in the area.
