Golden Residence Permit offers new opportunities

New legal provisions open up the possibility of applying for a residence permit for pursuing investment activities to those who have entered the country regularly (v.g. holders of valid Schengen Visas, or beneficiaries of Visa exemption), by transferring capital, creating jobs or acquiring real estate, with advantageous periods of stay in Portugal.

I don't know what to say about Portugal. There is such a disjunct between what I see out my window and what I know is happening under the hood. Outside, the summer has arrived, and we are back in shorts and T-shirts. Lunch by the beach is once again the norm. Sitting in the shade is now back in fashion. It's nice. Who would want to be anywhere else?
Portugal house prices down again

The Portuguese banks are starting to dump repossessed property onto the market. That will depreciate the price of houses even more. It's no longer sensible to look for house valuations in the local newspapers. The prices quoted there are usually way out of line with actual deals. In the real market (that means the market where deals are done, not the shop window) prices have dropped by about 75% from their highs of five or six years ago. They are now set to drop some more.
Algarve property market turning - Brits lead the field
