For the second year, Tavira is hosting the Summer Wines and Flavours Festival from 9 to 12 July.
Taking place downtown, in Jardim do Coreto, near the old fish market, this exhibition includes many of the best Portuguese fine wines and local delicacies which may be tasted and purchased.
Running for a full four days, this wine and flavor fest is organised by Portuguese magazine Revista de Vinhos with the support of Tavira Municipality and includes an extensive entertainment programme.
Taking maximum advantage at the height of the tourist season there will be many thousands of national and foreign visitors to this Festival which is part of the Mediterranean Diet programme to which Tavira is strongly committed.
As you may know, Tavira led the process to have the Mediterranean Diet recognized by UNESCO.
For those who want to know more about Portuguese wines there are scheduled master class tastings led by experts from the Revista de Vinhos magazine.
Entry to the Summer Wines & Flavours Festival is entirely free with those wanting to taste the wines needing only to buy a €5 glass.
All visitors are welcome to browse and buy from the wide selection of products on display.
