GNR teaches safety in the International School, EspicheA team from GNR’s ‘Escola Segura’ today visited the site of the International School of the Algarve in Espiche (Lagos) to talk about safety rules to the children of Pre-Reception, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

They learn’t how to walk along the road, how to cross a road, how to put the seat belt on in a car, what to do when approached by a stranger or when someone knocks on the door and there is no one else at home.

It was a very informative morning and the children learn’t a lot about safety.

Anti-bullying embassador visits the International School of the AlgarveJessica Alice, an up and coming UK singer songwiter visited the International School of the Algarve, on Tuesday 11th February. She performed her anti-bullyimng song ‘Stand Up and Say’.

All download royalties from the song go to the anti-bullying charity the Cybersmile Foundation, for whom Jessica is a school’s embassador. Jessica Alice has been touring secondary schools in the UK and will continue to do so throughout 2014.

Madalena SeverinoInternational School of the Algarve student Madalena Severino has been recongnised with a Cambridge Top in the World Award for having achieved the best world mark in the Cambridge IGCSE Foreign Language Portuguese examination, taken in June 2013.

Santa arrives at IEA Christmas BazaarOn Saturday 30th November, The International School of the Algarve held it's annual Christmas Bazaar and raised €2449.99 for a girls’ home in Portimão (‘Casa de Nossa Senhora da Conceição’).

The annual event is an opportunity for many stall orders to take part and sell their wares, while students get involved by organising children’s games and competitions, as well as assisting Santa Claus.

International School, PorchesThe International School of the Algarve has expanded its educational provision for the new school year with the opening of boarding for students (girls and boys) from the age of 12. Located in a converted hotel unit along the sea, the premises are a five minute drive from the school. The school ensures a private transport service between the above mentioned premises and the school itself.
