Winner James Maw giving it his best shotWell this is the last event of the 2014 Algarve Pro Golf Tour swing and we are here at a sun soaked Boavista Golf and Resort just outside of Lagos in the western Algarve playing the first round.

What a first round it turned out to be with 11 players equalling or breaking par but breaking par did in no way describe the leader James Maw’s first round.

Algarve Pirates Win First-Ever All-Algarve MatchIt was an historic first-ever meeting on this past Saturday, Dec. 13th, of the first two Algarve-based American-style football teams. The Algarve Pirates won this first-ever All-Algarve match 38 – 6, over the Algarve Sharks.
Fans of both teams enjoyed a hard fought match between the Algarve Pirates, and the newly formed Algarve Sharks.

Gibraltar FA's request rejectedFIFA has rejected the Gibraltar FA’s request to join the world’s footballing body after failing to recognise the British enclave as an independent territory. Gibraltar was officially welcomed into UEFA – the European football 'governing' body – last year and competed in their 1st competitive fixture in a Euro 2016 qualification game.
However, FIFA president, Sepp Blatter, said the "FA of Gibraltar cannot be accepted as a member of FIFA" because it contravened the "world governing body’s" statutes regarding independent territories. 

First home game ends in success for Carvoeiro UnitedMore than 100 local fans watched as the newly formed Carvoeiro United FCCU won their first home game 1-0 against local rivals Mex. Grande FC.

Bad weather in the morning threatened to dampen the spirits of players and fans but the sun came out as the whistle blew for the opening of the game held at the stadium in Estômbar on October 11.
