stadiumSpain will not forget International Women's Day 2017 anytime soon. For the first time in their history, Spain won the Algarve Cup, the prestigious invitational tournament. Even more remarkably, they did it on their first participation in the competition.

Spain defeated defending Algarve Cup champions Canada 1-0 in the final in Faro thanks to an early goal scored by defender Leila Ouahabi in the fourth minute.

Nick Robinson owner of Algarve SUP was one of the first companies to popularize the sport in Southern Portugal. Now in his 3rd year of business he has taken hundreds of guests along the stunning Algarve coastline. He enjoys adventure and was the first person to stand up paddle the breadth of the Algarve from Sagres to the Spanish border, following that up with a 260km paddle through central Portugal in 2016.

Adega Mayor Golf Tournament at Boa VistaWith perfect weather conditions and no wind at all, Boavista Golf & Spa Resort welcomed the 64 players that attended the 7th edition of Adega Mayor Tournament on the 28th of January.
This popular event proved once more to be a lively and very competitive tournament, as we can see from the results.

Squash OPen - FInlandThe 2017 Savcor Finnish Squash Open is currently taking place in Finland. The tournament started on 26 January and ended on the 29th.

Portuguese Rui Soares participated in this tournament and was seeded No.3.

PadraigHamiltonPadraig Harrington won on the European tour at Vilamoura this weekend, raising him from 159th to 97th in the rankings as he held off the challenge of defending champion Andy Sullivan at the Portugal Masters showing calm under pressure with a closing 65 to finish 23 under par.

Sullivan won the event by nine shots last season and this year looked good with birdies on four out of his first five holes giving him 22 under par at the end of the weekend.

Casas do Barlavento Golf Corporate Day is a raving successThe 2nd edition of the Golf Corporate Day, organized by Casas do Barlavento, took place on Saturday the 30th of September, at the Boavista Golf & Spa Resort.
Another raving success for the company with 84 players making up 21 teams of 4 players in a Texas Scramble, which everybody has enjoyed immensely once again. From within the 84 players, there were owners, buyers and business partners of Casas do Barlavento, the real estate agency directed by Luís Ledo.

Locals set to take on 240km stand up paddle challengeEmbarking on a brand new adventure on the 25th September 2016, an international team of four men and one woman (including two Algarvians) is paddling down the Spanish Border across Northern Portugal to Porto on stand up paddle boards.

They will cross through the beautiful Douro Valley which has been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status.
