Luís Figo’s Madrid home burgled again

figoLuís Figo’s Madrid home has been burgled and as estimated €500,000 worth of watches and jewellery stolen from the former footballer and his wife, Helen Svedin.

Criminals apparently took ‘bundles of cash’ while Figo and his wife were out, late on Tuesday night.

Thieves are believed to have forced their way in through a first-floor terrace door having climbed up the front of the house.

Figo, a weak candidate in last year’s race to become new FIFA president with the backing of David Beckham, reported the break-in to police soon after returning in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police sources confirmed the break-in but said they were still investigating and could not comment further but have CCTV images of the burglars which they currently are analysing.

In Spain, Figo has played for Barcelona and Real Madrid in and of course in the Portuguese national team. He now is a businessman with wide commercial interests, including property interests in the Algarve. He has an estimated fortune of €50 million.

The dad-of-three family man lives a life of leisure, saying recently in an interview that “I devote time to my family, travelling, enjoying life, playing golf, being with my friends. Things I couldn’t do when I didn’t have as much time.”

Figo’s home in the top-notch Madrid neighbourhood of Parque de Conde de Orgaz also was targeted in 2003 when three men armed with guns forced their way in and took an unspecified amount of valuables.
