GNR inspection finds 33% of dog owners fail their pets

dogTrainingA round-up of dogs in the Setúbal area showed a third did not have the correct documentation or records.

Of the 43 dogs that were checked, 14 lacked one or more legal requirements including a valid dog licence, an ID microchip and a correct and current vaccination record.

GNR personnel carried out their dog inspection excercise in several municipalities in the district of Setúbal with the objective of “detecting any infractions related to companion animals.”

"In Barreiro, eight dogs were checked and eight breaches were detected. In Moita, 26 dogs were checked and three breaches were detected. Four dogs were checked in Alcochete and three breaches were detected, and five dogs were checked at Montijo without any breaches detected," according to the GNR.

One owner commented, "I feel so stupid as the requirements are hardly onerous and are all a part of owning a dog. The annual licence costs less than ten euros but I just forgot to get one this year."

Dog owners - if you and your dog were stopped tomorrow by the GNR, how would you do?

Failing their pets????
How many dogs were well fed, had a home to live in, regular walks and vet care?
Paperwork is all very well and has it's place but in itself it really has no bearing on how well a dog is looked after!

I forgot to renew my dog license last year, what is the fine?

I was a month late renewing my dog's licence and had no fine to pay at the Junta, the new licence just started a month later than before.

Great to have you back, Orwell - we have missed your well-balanced opinions.

Cops or gnr thugs now harrasing dog owers!

Another scam to rob people, dog licence!

Another way to fine people, terrorise the people,
Socialism always leads to the death of citizens,

In portugal, its just a pre text to fine people, the real aim is to steal your house, car, property, money, how do you think they are going to finance the tens of thousands of bogus asylum muslims they are bring into portugal nightly under cover of darkness??

Portugal is a bankrupt country, run by and ruined by idiot communists who drive mercedes benz.

They steal from you, who worked hard, and the money they steal from you give to fake refugees, invaders.

Free apartments, free health care, free money, everything for free. To military age young men, who no legal right to enter the eu!

As priven here, The bestvway to come to portugal is to burn your passport, call yourself mohammed, and claim asylum at the portuguese border.

The worst way to come to portugal is to bring your savings, and buy property.

The gnr are the thug enforcers of the commie eussr bearecrats sitting in councils and phony enviromental agencys, who with a stroke of their pen will wipe out your lifes work, and turn you into a criminal and a pauper.

They first send out letters terrorising people, they use the gnr to intimidate you, its their private mafia, foot soldiers.

The eu will collapse soon. Be sure if it.

Italy is next in the house of cards.

Not too good...

I used to walk around town with my fuzzy little dog free; he walked next to me.
GNR boss said if I didn't tie him up, he would give me a fine.
Free dogs with no apparent human supervision were running past us at regular intervals as the following exchange took place;

"But," he said, "If you tell me that's NOT your dog, then you don't have to pay anything. So, IS that your dog?"
"Yes, that's my dog."
"Ok, good; if you'd told me it wasn't your dog, I'd seize it and take him to the municipal kennel."

How that rotund individual would have caught the dog is unclear; I was happy to not have him try.
