President of firemen’s league “convinced” crime lies behind Portugal’s killer blaze

Jaime Marta Soares With today officially ending Portugal’s period of national mourning for the hideous deaths and suffering caused by Pedrógão Grande’s monster blaze, the president of the country’s league of firemen has revealed he has “strong convictions” a “criminal hand” was at play.

Jaime Marta Soares has confirmed that he is ready and willing to share his information with PJ detectives probing the cause of fires that are still alight this evening - five days since Pedrógão Grande hit the headlines for the worst possible reasons.

Against news that the fires are now “dominated” - and that it is only a matter of time before they are finally extinguished - Marta Soares’ convictions come from “series of accounts” that he heard from various people, he told TSF radio this morning.

These accounts suggest the fire began in Escalos Fundeiros a full two hours before the “dry thunderstom weather phenomenon” blamed for the tragedy kicked in.

Soares stressed that now is the time for those “who have the competence to analyse the facts” to prove him wrong.

A source for the country’s PJ Judicial Police has said Soares will be called in “as quickly as possible” to explain the reasons for making his statements.

The force’s national director Almeida Rodrigues told Lusa that as far as investigations “in perfect articulation with the GNR” have determined “everything points very clearly towards natural causes.

“We even found the tree that was hit by a lightning strike”, he added.

Needless to say, Marta Soares’ timing has not been helpful. Today was the day parliament called a national minute of silence, and held a “solemn session” in honour of the 64 men, women and children who lost their lives. It was also the day the first firemen to die as a result of his injuries was buried.

As four of Gonçalo Conceição’s colleagues remain in serious condition in hospital, the questions stacking up about why so many people had to die are now multiplying.

Meantime, fire commander Vítor Vaz Pinto has guaranteed that the fires are “dominated”.

“The fire will not progress any further than it has”, he told reporters at this afternoon’s briefing. “We are going to concentrate on the interior of the perimeter. We will have some quite complicated situations but we are certain that the fire will not progress more than this”.

There are a lot of different opinions on the disappearance of little Madaline Mc Cann, and hopefully one day justice will be served to anyone who did wrong.
By the way Charly, the authors name is Goncalo Amaral.

On behalf of "truth, police and justice" in Portugal let's keep in mind the amazing but wonderful book from Conçalo Amaral:
A V E R D A D E D A M E N T I R A
That will definitely help us understanding how the police works and thinks in Portugal.

My reason for using the words "conspiracy theories" is, because that is just what they are. They are stories of truths and half truths with people adding bits to the story for reasons that are unknown to most of us.

The truth will come out when the investigation is completed by the Police and the report is published.

Quoting Cara:
Sounds like conspiracy theroists are making a Drama out of this terrible tragedy.

Hopefully the truth will come out and the eye-witness reports shown to have been accurate.

I am not aware that Jaime Marta Soares, O presidente da Liga dos Bombeiros Portugueses, has a history of unfoundfed allegations.

What is equally interesting is the current police investigation in Spain into the corruption involved in private helicopter supply contracts where the Spanish and Portuguese government have been paying over the odds for services due to supplier collusion - €100 million in excess payments has been mentioned.

Liker I said
it wasn't an annual event ten years ago like it is now
Just follow the money

Der LESCROOGE, the 3003 fires were not so crual and killing as these ones, but at that time about 100.000 hectares (dubbel compared to now) have been burned down. At that time everybody spoke about "THE MARMELE DRAMA" because that's the small village just under Monchique where ayoug arsonist decided to burn down the whole area ! Long time that guy had been seen "as the HERO of the region" but later on authorities came to the conclusion the guy had mental problems and better needed some psycholigical help. Two years later nobody remembered either Monchique or its arsonist and since then it's life like usual again.in the Monchique.
The only direct consequence was that the price for the MEDRONHO raised with 30% (by lack of wild strawberries).

OK this original is the definitive one.

Ah!
It is never wise to rush into print, particularly when one has just got out of bed.
I have reviewed what I posted and I think I have elicited more clarity. Perhaps later in the day, after a liquid lunch, I'll feel more loquacious and illicit.

The truth/facts/whatever, are never a compelling reason to face them.
FOLLOW THE MONEY -
is what I said year on year.
Who doesn't get paid LOADSAMONEY when there are no forest fires?

Fifteen years ago, I don't remember there being forest fires in Portugal.
Now it's a regular summer event - like women's topless beach volleyball - you've seen it before but it's fascination still merits another view.

Another twist in this tale is the after-the-event land snatching when the insurance companies deem these fires to be ACTS of GOD and refuse to cough up, easing in the arrival of the over-privileged, bargain hunting, sixteen families.

Every country has its unfettered, institutnionalised corruption.
The UK has the NHS management - courtesy of the 1974 Cuntservative GUV - to which supplier access is only considered when the accommodative ante is pony-ed up to the respective NHS manager.
I would like to say - "well at least their actions are not indiscriminately slaughtering the UK inhabitants, like the fire did here - but I can't - koz they do."

As the cost of everything soars, the cost of life diminishes.

As I mentioned earlier,
FOLLOW THE MONEY is a maxim not applicable here in Portugal.
The Financas can't trouble all those on the uber-privileged non-existent, tax free list.
The authorities can't FOLLOW THE MONEY bikoz it will only lead to their uber-heeled, uber-connected, politically affiliated chums.
And that would necessitate, yet another brush-under-the-rug denial, denial and dezambezi cover up.
Embarrassing
Quel fromage! As they say in Peckham.
