Portugal's south will be hotter still on Thursday and Friday

sunnyHigher predicted temperatures have triggered a yellow warning for the southern part of Portugal with the Évora, Beja and Faro districts to expect Thursday and Friday to be even hotter.

The Portuguese weather service (IPMA), says the temperatures from 09:00 on Thursday and 21:00 on Friday will be blistering, rising in the Algarve to 35°C on Thursday and 36°C on Friday.

The 'yellow warning', the third most serious, means it is hazardous for people to exert themselves out of doors and should stay in the shade due to high UV readings.

On Wednesday, August 2, the mainland will show a mixture of ‘a little overcast or clear’ with cloud along the western coast until mid-morning.

There is a weak northwest wind predominating, with bursts up to 55 kilometers per hour on the south coast, especially during the afternoon.

This is ideal fire weather and the IPMA says that fire-fighters in Monchique, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Alcoutim and Castro Marim are currenetly on maximum alert due an imminent danger that fires will start.
