Culture Secretary expects better attendance at 365 Algarve events this year

musicSecretary of State for Culture, Miguel Honrado, said the second year of the '365 Algarve' cultural programme will leave an even greater mark on the region. This is safe bet as last year’s poorly publicised programme came and went with few noticing.

In 2011, Portugal received a ten-year grant from the EU of €175 million for a project 'to attract tourists to Portugal during the winter months so as to mitigate the effects of seasonality.’

The Algarve 365 programme received €1.25 million of the total for 2017, in support of 525 events.

"Our expectation is that the second edition will attract even more members of the public and that all the working and partnership relations that were made in the Algarve last year will be consolidated," said a hopeful Miguel Honrado.

The programming for the 2017/2018 season runs from October 2017 to May 2018, and is the result of a partnership between the Secretary of State for Tourism and the Secretary of State for Culture, supported by Turismo de Portugal and run by the Algarve Tourism Region and the Algarve Tourism Association.

Under the theme "A territory of sun for the arts", the schedule for the second edition of 365 Algarve is based on four key events: the Festival Internacional de Luz do Algarve in Loulé, the Festival do Contrabando in Alcoutim, the Festival Algarve Jazz Gourmet Moments in Lagos, and the Lavrar o Mar project.

Miguel Honrado will be at the launch of this year’s 365 Algarve programme in Loulé, including a free opening party, some theater, a gastronomy show and a concert by António Zambujo.

The programme includes 525 presentations of music, dance, theatre, contemporary circus, cinema, visual arts, literature, gastronomy and heritage across the 16 municipalities of the region.

I hope the program gives more info than their website! It would be useful to know location, time, price and language!! If they don't advertise properly how do they expect people to go to these events??
