Covid-19: For 27 consecutive days, recoveries exceed new infections

COVID-19: FOR 27 CONSECUTIVE DAYS, RECOVERIES EXCEED NEW INFECTIONSYesterday, Portugal registered 33 deaths related to Covid-19, the lowest since October 29th  last year.

The DGS epidemiological bulletin also reveals that 2,180 patients are currently hospitalised (224 less than yesterday), of which 492 are in intensive care.

Intensive care hospitalisations today have the lowest value since January 2nd, when 492 people were also in these units, while patients admitted to hospitals are today at the lowest number since November 1, 2020.

The data released today also indicate that 2,820 more people have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered to 717,313 since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, in March 2020.

Active cases in Portugal continue to record a decrease, with 70,255 active cases today, down 1,782. Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age. The largest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Since March 2020, Portugal has recorded 16,276 deaths associated with Covid-19 and 803,844 cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Health authorities have 48,490 contacts under surveillance, 4,676 less than yesterday, with the downward trend since January 30th, continuing.

According to the latest data from the Directorate-General for Health, Portugal currently has 574,062 vaccinated with the first dose, and 263,825 with the second dose.
