Albufeira arsenal owner has two previous arrests

gunThe 26-year old man who was found to have a veritable arsenal of weapons in the garage of his house in Ferreiras, Albufeira is spending the weekend in the local GNR station.

On checking his record, the authorities have confirmed that the man has two previous arrests for drug trafficking and possession of firearms.

He will be in court on Monday on weapons and drugs charges, but the copy of a book about Bin Laden and one graffito with the word 'jihad' on his wall have not led the Counter-terroism police to conclude that he is linked to Jihad or any other terrorist networks in Portugal or elsewhere.

The man was arrested last week by GNR officers as from his vehicle he had fired a gun into the air in Ferreiras.

He threw the gun away but was caught by the GNR who went to his house to see what was what on the home front.

He has a stash of weapons and drugs in his garage, one weapin was a semiautomatic Galil rifle with silencer, the preferred choice of many special forces soldiers.

A neighbour did state to Correia de Manhã reporters that the man “spends a lot of time here, but never really talks much with us. We know that he's involved in illegalities and in the drug business."

Locals suspected that the man had weapons, but were surprised at the amount. "Just thinking about all the weapons he had in the house makes me shudder. And what if had started shooting into the street? I have kids at home," said another neighbour.

We know that he's involved in illegalities and in the drug business." ....

This is one of the fundamental differences between our societies. Dating back well into Salazar's time.

Bad social behaviour affects the value of peoples properties in the UK and the quality of their lives ...ok though - if not their property but the councils, then maybe its not that different to life in Portugal!

How long would a weirdo like this - known to be discharging guns and dealing in drugs by both the police and his neighbours - have survived unbothered by the UK Police amongst private housing ???

Here - so much of the time; bad behaviour is only reported if it involves me or my own. Otherwise it is not my business , PIDE can sort it out.

Which is why Crimewatch would never work here.

Although very understandably - WEAKEST LINK does very well.
