Legendary ‘70s pop group Supertramp has announced the 'Supertramp Forever Tour' scheduled to start in Portugal and continue around Europe from November this year has been cancelled due to Rick Davis having been diagnosed with cancer, which clearly needs treatment.
Gondomar was been chosen to host the first gig on November 3rd, then the MEO Arena in Lisbon before the group was to head off to France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg and the UK.
This tour was to mark the long-awaited return of multi-instrumentalist Mark Hart but any reappearance of founder member Roger Hodgson remains was unlikely as ever as the 1972 rift over psychedelic drug intake formed an impenetrable barrier to further artistic cooperation. The band was formed at the tail end of the 1960s and has sold 60 million albums, reaching their commercial peak with the 1979 Breakfast in America which alone sold more than 20 million copies.
Davis said today "I was eager to start playing again and tour with the band. Sorry for disappointing you. Unfortunately, my health problems force me to concentrate all the energy in that direction."
