London stabbing leaves 20-year-old Portuguese man dead at the scene

quaresmaA Portuguese man has died of a knife wound at West Ham Lane Recreation Ground in east London.

Bradley Quaresma, 20, was slashed across the neck during a skirmish at 15:15, a time when the park was full of families and children.

Paramedics from London’s Air Ambulance tried to save his life but Quaresma, whose family is from Portugal, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two teenage youths, 16 and 17, were arrested nearby following the incident and are being questioned by detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Homicide and Major Crime Command.

Witnesses said a blue tent was erected over the victim’s body in front of horrified youngsters, while on social media, Quaresma’s friends told of their heartbreak.

“He still had much to live for and to celebrate in this life. I’ll remember him always with a smile on his face, fun-loving, cheeky and full of life.”

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes said: “It was a busy time of day when this violent incident has occurred and I am appealing to anyone who was in an around the area, and who may have witnessed the incident to contact us.”
