Surrealists take to the stage - Dec 9th, 10th & 11th

SURREALISTS TAKE TO THE STAGE - DEC 9TH, 10TH & 11THOn stage at the Old Gallery, São Brás Museum this comedy play based on factual events, takes place in Paris and Lisbon where the audience encounters the art collector Peggy Guggenheim and the cabaret performer Josephine Baker.

Appearing on stage in São Brás - Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Max Ernst and the English author and aristocratic artist, Leonora Carrington.

Portugal’s most acclaimed modern poet, Fernando Pessoa makes an appearance translating surrealist texts and writing in verse. Sometimes carried away by automatic writing he also conducts other worldly experiments and séances; activities that were fashionable at the time.

The play features Cecile Eluard as Cinderella, the neglected daughter of Gala Dali. The play is written entirely in rhyme and there is a cast of 12.

Written and Directed by Carolyn Kain, ‘Cinderella and the Surrealists’ is to be staged in the Old Gallery, São Brás Museum.

Friday December 9th evening performance at 7-30 pm

Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th matinees at 5-30 pm

Tickets 10 euros for Amigos of the museum, 12 euros for general public.
