American coffee retailer, Starbucks, controls more than 15,000 stores worldwide but even this is not enough with the company determined to expand in Portugal.
The Algarve is to host two Starbucks outlets, one in the new Mar Shopping zone at the IKEA site near Loulé and the other at Forum Algarve in Faro.
In Portugal, the first Starbucks store opened in September 2008 at the Alegro shopping center in Alfragide, northwest of Lisbon which, the company says, is successful.
Starbucks now already operates 11 stores in Portugal, nine that it owns and two franchises at Lisbon airport.
The two Algarve stores will employ 35 people, claims to company.
The brand's ernest mission is to "inspire and nourish the human spirit: one person, one cup and one community at a time."
The Starbucks expansion is not limited to the Algarve as it extends to the far north with a new store opening in the La Vie Porto Baixa shopping center and another in the city's historic centre.
The company says that the Algarve now will be able to savour "the moment to the rhythm of life, sometimes slowly at other times in the rush of everyday life, celebrating the traditional coffee and the coffee drink as a fantastic sense of belonging and welcome."
