Transavia airlines - the best of the bunch

transaviaThe budget carrier Transavia France has been named as the Best Budget Airline in Europe.

Transavia is run by Air France. It had an overall score from passengers of 7.47 out of 10, according to the website Flight Report, which compiled the data.

Norwegian, with 7.42, and Air Baltic, with 7.23, captured silver and bronze.

There followed the airlines FlyB and Volotea after which Britain’s easyJet landed in sixth place with a score of 7.14.

Ireland’s Ryanair came in 8th place with a ranking of 6.43 after WhizzAir’s 7th spot.

Four criteria were used in grading: the comfort of the cabin, the welcome of air stewards, the quality of the refreshments offered for sale, and entertainment or services on board.

Clearly Transavia was given high marks in all categories.

“In fact [Transavia] does everything pretty well,” said Flavien Tete the co-founder of the Flight Report website.

“The company has an excellent reputation, the crew is young and friendly and the proposed destinations are mainly for leisure reasons,” he added.

Transavia increased the number of its flights last year by 25% with a 28% increase in passenger numbers.

The airline plans to open up routes to London and Edinburgh this year.

There had been earlier plans to create hubs in Germany and Portugal, but Air France dropped the idea in the face of discontent from its pilots who feared their contracts would be undermined by the use of Transavia personnel.
