Lisbon parish pays €31,000 to wife of Miguel Relvas

Strategy, Lda, whose majority stakeholder is Marta Sousa Relvas, was hired in April 2015 for €31,686, one month after the business was created.

The report notes increasing consumption, between 2012 and 2016/7, in women and in the 25-34 and 35-44 age groups.

vilamouraPolice have arrested a woman suspected of masterminding a €5 million fraud involving the sale of yachts that she did not own.
 
Four luxury yachts were sold to unsuspecting buyers for a total of €5 million and the woman is suspected of "qualified fraud, abuse of trust, forgery of documents and money laundering,’ as she did not own the vessels nor did she have the right to sell them. 

Ria Formosa islanders pushed out 'to make way for tourist developments'

The new administrative seizures, planned by Polis Litoral Ria Formosa as precursors to the demolition of yet more houses in the settlements of Farol and Hangars, "has as its ultimate objective, in the name of defending environmental values, to gradually expel the local communities from the Ria Formosa islands, to deliver this valuable territory to the interests of economic groups, as indeed happens along much of the Algarve’s coast."

Bank of Portugal governor knew Rioforte was bust when stating it was 'a viable company'

The Bank of Portugal, under governor Carlos Costa, (pictured), later failed to disclose key information about events leading to the bankruptcy of Rioforte, part of the Espírito Santo Group which collapsed in 2014.

Portugal's diplomats miffed at UNESCO posting

portugalflagPortugal’s Association of Diplomats has demanded that the government reconsiders its appointment of the former candidate for the Presidency of the Republic to be its UNESCO representative.
 
The Association reacted to the announcement of  the Government's intention to appoint Sampaio da Nóvoa as Portugal’s ambassador to UNESCO, stating that it was a "complete surprise” and a very strange choice.
