Share & Care Portugal was born from a sad event in a womans life when her hubby, Michael died suddenly. The day was beautiful, the sun shining, we went for drive in the mountains, had a lovely picnic and paddled in the river. On the way back we collected pine cones from the forest, we sang and listen to music in the car driving home.
The Embassy of Ireland in Portugal has made a special presentation of Irish food gift packs to Portuguese frontline health workers on Ireland’s National Day – St. Patrick’s Day – as a symbol of gratitude and solidarity amidst the ongoing Covid pandemic.
The Rotary Club de Albufeira campaign "Mission Of Solidarity 2021" has begun, for the next months, and with we are committed, in terms of communication and actions on the ground, appealing for the donation of goods and food products (non perishable), toiletries and household cleaning, as well as animal food (dogs and cats).
Due to the current restrictions relating to the Coronavirus pandemic, the AAA have cancelled the forthcoming lecture which was due to be held on 2nd February 2021. We continue to review the situation and hope to be able to hold some of our forthcoming lectures online via Zoom; an outline of the planned lecture programme for 2021 can be seen on the AAA website.
Olá! I'm Ronaldo. You can guess why I am called that: I like to play with a ball! I'm about three years old now, and if perhaps the keepie-uppies aren't so neat, I can still dribble past the other cats pretty well.
'Mia has lived in the ADAPO* cat shelter for about four years. She's a distinctive grey tortoiseshell, calm and super sweet. When she was found, in the area of the Social Security offices in Olhão, she was already an adult. Sadly, no-one ever claimed her.
Under the Rotary motto "Rotary Opens Opportunities", and in the context of various actions that have been developed by Rotary Club of Albufeira for the benefit of the community, in difficult times such as those we currently go through, namely hidden hunger, which affects a number of families, and whose household is often composed of children and disabled, the Rotary Club of Albufeira launched a Solidarity Campaign.
ADAPO - Associação de Defesa dos Animais e Plantas de Olháo, was established 2004 by Célia Caravela. It is a local non-profit association with a mission to reduce the feral population of cats and dogs, through a programme of Trap-Neuter-Return. ADAPO also runs a cat shelter, and has recently set up a FB page in Portuguese and English to promote adoptions.
