Sustainable Art Exhibition - Open until July 27th

SUSTAINABLE ART EXHIBITION - OPEN UNTIL JULY 27THWhen you walk around in the Algarve you find amazing pieces of wood, plants, stones, herbs. Nature around is outstanding. Manuela Cunha has, since many years, picked them up and worked them into very nice pieces of art at her quinta, near Messines.

Manuela CunhaThe quinta itself is biological and because of the valley where it is located, its climate makes it possible develop both Mediterranean and tropical plants and fruits, such as pitanga and avocado from Brazil, papaya from Africa and many species of citrus.

An exhibition of Sustainable Art, by Manuela is now open at the The Museu João de Deus, in Messines, until July 27th.

Manuela hikes around finding unusual pieces of wood and dried plants and with a few touches makes them outstanding pieces of art. Her love for nature made her ask visitors, last week, to think about the results of ignoring the need to preserve the planet and avoid, not only fight, forest fires.

She said that generic rules on cutting all green around a rural home is unfair, as some species bring shadow and humidity to the soil.

The exhibition is open Mon-Fri, 10am-1pm and 2-6pm.
