Algarvean Socialists pat themselves on the back for “strong representation” in new Government

algarve cabinetThe Algarve Socialist Party division have welcomed in a statement sent to newsrooms this afternoon the region's "strong political representation" in the new Government, with the inclusion of three Secretaries of State.

Speculators believe that having more representation of the Algarve’s politicians at the top of the political ladder will be crucial is tackling some of the quandaries that have been brought up over the last few months.

Jamila Madeira (Assistant Secretary of State for Health), Jorge Botelho (Secretary of State for Decentralization and Local Government), and José Apolinário (Secretary of State for Fisheries) are the Algarvians who have been embraced by António Costa into his cabinet.

PS Algarve’s statement revealed that they "congratulate the new members of the Government and thank Prime Minister António Costa for the trust placed in three incumbencies of great importance for the country and the Algarve region."

Luís Graça, president of the PS’s Algarve division, who together with Joaquina Matos is already an elected MP, has also welcomed Ana Passos, Francisco Oliveira and Célia Paz, who will occupy the vacancies left behind by the Government members that have taken on crucial roles within the Assembly of the Republic.

The Algarve Socialists said a special thank you to “Miguel Freitas for his service to the country as Secretary of State for Forests and Rural Development in the second part of the 21st Government's mandate."
