Another hashish bale washed up onto an Algarve beach

hashishbundleThis time the drug was found by on the shore at Garrão Poente beach in the Loulé council area.

The 30kg bale was wrapped in a blue waterproof outer with red markings and had not been in the water for long. The find was made by an early morning walker who, for reasons yet to be explained, informed the local GNR.

This is the sixth bundle of hashish that has washed up on the Algarve’s shoreline in the past few weeks but the first to be found this far east after the 180 kilos found along the shores of the Vila do Bispo area in December 2015.

The Maritime Police in Lagos also found bundles in December at Meia Praia and Pinhão, followed by two more at Martinhal, all of which were in good condition and polcie say had come from the same source.

Authorities believe the Garrão beach hashish originated from Morocco and was tossed overboard due to recent heavy seas.
