The rate of job vacancies for all occupations in the euro area rose by 1.6% by the close of 2015.
This was the same place it had been at the start of last year, but it dipped through to the middle of 2015 before rising again.
Portugal ploughed along well below the eurozone average. It trailed behind only Poland for limited availability of jobs.
The same sorry situation existed in Spain as well. Both countries showed a meagre increase of 0.6% over the preceding quarter.
The growth in Portugal was composed predominately by a 0.5% increase in positions in industry and construction.
No surprises to find that the highest job vacancy rates were reported in Germany, the UK and Belgium.
