Brexit: Juncker warns Britons that deserters will gain no favours

brexitLenThe President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker has issued a stark warning to Britain by claiming that Brussels will do no favour to the "deserters" of the European Union.

"Deserters will not be welcomed with open arms" Juncker said in an interview published by Le Monde, referring to the possibility of a Brexit result in the June referendum.

"If the British say 'no', something which I hope does not happen, community life will not be like before and “The UK will have to get used to being regarded as a third party state, which we won’t be handling with kid gloves."

Juncker’s comments arrive in the face of the European Commission’s previous stance of not undermining the UK referendum campaign.

A little over a month to the referendum, supporters of staying in Europe are 55% taking the average poll results from What UK Think.

Supporters of a Brexit say warnings, such as this one from Juncker, are part of a strategy to generate fear.

Boris Johnson’s warning of a collapse in the UK economy and Michael Gove’s warning of “a dark and poor future” were countered last week by UK’s luvvies including Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley stating that only by staying in Europe would arts flourish.

"The UK is not only stronger in Europe, is more imaginative and creative. Our global artistic success would be seriously committed to an EU exit," wrote the signatories of a manifesto published in The Daily Telegraph and The Guardian.

"Abandoning Europe would be a leap into the unknown for millions of people throughout the UK, working in artistic fields and millions of other people, here and abroad, benefit from the growth and dynamism of the British cultural sector" read the letter.

Besides the already mentioned, among the signatories are also actors Bill Nighy, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kristin Scott Thomas, Helena Bonham Carter and Derek Jacobi, the group Franz Ferdinand and singer Paloma Faith, the designer Vivienne Westwood and the writer Tom Stoppard.

A poll conducted among members of the Federation of Creative Industries in Britain showed that 96% of them wish to remain in the EU, have continued access to the European market, with its subsidies and free movement.

From the world of film, actor Michael Caine is in favour of leaving the union, and not many people know that…

Whatever happens, be sure that the Brits are in for one Rough-Ride in the next couple of years. Many ex-pats in Spain/Portugal/Itlay, etc are already feeling it's time to head home. At least they'll get some pension and maybe some NHS treatment. So maybe Herr Junker's firing squad will be chasing an already fleeing despised minority.

Nobody know the consequences of leaving Europe. It's a risk. For me any British immigrants to Portugal (or ex pat as they like to call themselves) that vote to leave could well be aligned to the Turkey voting for Christmas! For me following the advise of that clown Johnson, smug Gove, despicable Ian Duncan Smith, goose stepping FarTage and good old 'Beefy' Botham to leave is not as convincing as the advice from the British Prime minister, nearly all the main political parties leaders, the IMF, the governor of the Bank of England and the CBI to stay!

Tax-avoiding Luxembourger Junker is out of touch with reality - along with his E'U' milking cronies.
They're beneath contempt.

You get a sense of the bizarre mix of countries in the European Union when you attempt to comprehend, in a country as racist as Portugal - it's 'race blindness'. No distinction ever being made in any official activity other than to define native Portuguese and foreigners / strangers. Intentional as it means no possibility of addressing any specific racial prejudice like 'Pink Mapping'.

Yet we hear today of ex-Portuguese PM Guiterres's attempt to become the Top Man of the United Nations. What lunacy is this! Consider for a millisecond the signal it sends to all the other backward nations of the world! How would he introduce other nations at debates if only one , Portugal, was actually named? Thank you country A (which has a lot of battleships) for your contribution - now lets hear the views of country Y which has no battleships. And what would UN research look like if everything was aggregated into 95% of foreign countries, including Portugal, agree with proposal X and 5% do not. Weird. Yet this is just one of the more wacky countries in the EU today !!!
