GNR officer pocketed traffic fines

gnrA crooked GNR officer on road duties is to be prosecuted for pocketing fines paid by drivers.

The officer, stationed in Faro, is to face six charges for embezzlement, according to a statement from the District Attorney's office in Faro today.

The Public Prosecutor said the defendant would stop drivers who had committed infractions, who voluntarily paid him the fine due at the time, but that money never reached the public coffers.

The officer is accused of keeping and spending the money embezzled between October 2015 and March 2016.

The GNR Command in Faro said the officer already had been  subjected to an internal disciplinary process and his senior officers then report the events to the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action (DIAP) in Faro.

The offences were all committed in the Faro area and have been subject to a full investigation by the Judicial Police.

Such things exist in all countries.... Lately I have been stopped on the highway a kilometer before the border between Austria and Germany. The policeman claimed my speed was exaggerated. In reality it wasn't at all ! I had been handed a ticket but I immediately noticed it WAS A PHOTOCOPIED DOCUMENT. When I said that to the policeman.... he proposed me a 50% discount meaning he was happy with 60 € in stead of the 120 he initially was claiming. When I told that to the German custom's officer he told me this couple of crooked Austrian policemen (???) is doing that all day and all year long and they probably become very rich and wealthy with this practice ! Who said crime doesn't pay ????

A crooked GNR officer? Must be a typo. They are all playing the game..this one was unfortunate to get caught. Make sure as motorists you only pay down at the station and get a receipt if are deemed to have infringed an offence on the EN125.

"The GNR Command in Faro said the officer already had been subjected to an internal disciplinary process ...".

What does this mean? Has he been sacked and prosecuted for theft?

These Gestappo-like vermin should all be eradicated and replaced with honest people interested in upholding the law rather than persecuting motorists. Brigado Transito are all corrupt, from the highest ranks downwards - it is endemic.

It would seem that anyone with any sort of "power" in this totally corrupt country is "on the take".

 :sigh: :-*
