Ryanair cancelled 1,100 flights in May

ryanair13Ryanair had to cancel 1,100 flights in May due to workers' strikes, French air traffic control playing up again, a lack of staff and weather problems.

A company statement admitted that these cancellations affected more than 200,000 of its passengers and called on the European Commission to take immediate measures to avoid any ‘force majeure’ during the coming peak summer months.

Ryanair spokesman, Kenny Jacobs, said in the same statement that flights in May increased by 6% over the same period in 2017 with 12 million passengers flown.

In Faro, a new Ryanair route was launched today, Tuesday, June 5, to Wroclaw. The 3 hour 45minute flight will be just once a week to this secondary Polish city. A promotional price will be available until the end of Friday, claims the airline.

Regarding this new route, Andreia Cunha, Ryanair's Portugal sales and marketing manager was pleased to announce this addition to the route network, Dora Coelho from the Algarve Tourism Association said that "Poland is one of the top 10 visitor-sending countries to the Algarve and, therefore, the opening of this new route is very positive news for the region."

Not to be outdone, Airport director, Alberto Mota Borges, said, "This operation is relevant for the Algarve region because it strengthens the connection to a strategic market, creating new connections for Poland and more connectivity from Faro."

1,100 flight cancellations?

Couldn't happen to a nicer company.
