In a rare contraction of service, low-cost carrier Ryanair is to suspend its new Faro to Lisbon route just three days after its inauguration.
From April 24th the low-cost intercity airlink will cease. The airline gave no explanation for the decision, the news was announced by an ANA spokesman.
Customers with existing reservations for Ryanair flights between Lisbon and Faro will be notified individually of the early cancellation of the service.
The airline did say that the operation is suspended only until October 25th and that all passengers who have already bought flights will be refunded and or offered a credit against flight on Ryanair to a choice of other destinations.
However, the Lisbon-Faro connection which started on April 1st was only scheduled to operate until October 25th, but was always subject to review.
No other internal or international routes are thought to be subject to cancellation but unprofitable routes are quickly dropped by low-cost airlines whose business model requires a high level of occupancy and the payment of subsidies by airport operators and local tourism authorities.

If it hadn't been for a low cost carrier like ryanair, faro airport would still be a dismal place as before.it seems that it always takes an outside company like ryanair to be a little more progressive than any other company in Portugal.its time that the portoguese thought more open minded and more progressive in their approach about business, instead of thinking no we can't do it because of a law or because employment criteria, example contracts.
MOVE FOWARD,WE CAN DO IT!!!
