Portuguese PM meets China's President and agrees more investment links

china2Portugal’s Prime Minister, António Costa met the Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday October 8th with both calling for more Chinese investment in Portugal.

During the meeting at the Great Hall of the People, Xi told the Portuguese PM that both countries need to deepen their cooperation in investment and to explore new markets.

Seized Tavira hotel to reopen

portanovahotelTavira’s 4-star Porta Nova hotel (pictured) was forcibly shut down by its lender, 140 guests were ejected, 45 staff lost their jobs, the doors chained shut and security guards were put in place to ensure Novo Banco’s asset was protected.

These events took place in the first week of October 2015, leaving the hotel’s owner, Manuel Simões, incandescent at the bank’s action over a sale and leaseback arrangement that he said could have been resolved by negotiation and that by closing the hotel, there was no cash flow available to make repayments.

Apple academy opens its doors in Naples

British murderer appeals Portimão sentence

jackson1The regional Court in Évora has confirmed the sentenced passed in Portimão on Nigel Jackson, the Briton found guilty of murdering his partner Brenda Davidson and of concealing her body.

Jackson got 25 years in jail, the maximum allowed under Portuguese law, for the gruesome murder in 2014 of his partner in the house they shared in Alcalar, Portimão.
