Jack Soifer, originally from Sweden, began investing in Portugal in 1980. By bringing in Nordic importers, he has already visited more than 80 industries.
He was a judge at the National Wine Competition, visited 98 wineries, and promotes wine tourism and wine tastings in the Algarve for high-level entrepreneurs and professionals.
His books focus on the export potential for small and medium-sized enterprises, and innovations not yet used in Portugal. Persons such as the Duke of Braganza, and the Vice-CEO of Gulbenkian, Guilherme d´Oliveira Martins, have presented his books in Lisbon.
The Mayors of Portimão, Álvaro Bila, and of Lagos, Hugo Pereira, opened the debate. Eighteen entrepreneurs from Norway, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Rhodesia, Colombia, and the USA attended, five from Lisbon and many from the Algarve.

Among the talks were those of an architect, of an investor from Lisbon, of a director of the University of Algarve, and an Italian, former President of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. Then, music by João Galante and a port wine toast, when Jack introduced foreign directors, such as Jeff Nason from Philadelphia, Howard Green from Colorado, and Aurelio Torres from Colombia, to the locals.
Among the sectors represented were banking, finance, IT, architecture, construction, real estate brokerage, justice, client support, niche marketing, electrical engineering, computer maintenance, organic farming, marine resources, start-up monitoring, medical management, law, podiatry, osteopathy, and music.
