See Me Not

See Me Not by Real LaplaineOn her eighth birthday, instead of getting a cake or a present like other children her age, Hann’Sha was sold into sexual slavery by her own father for the equivalent of ten US dollars.

For four years the young girl lives a life of sexual abuse and slavery, until one day, a university student discovers her plight and he makes it his mission to free her. The road they must walk however is a dark and dangerous one, not only fighting the criminal underworld of human trafficking, but the corruption of local officials who turn a blind eye. It is a story about one man’s courage and a young girl’s undying hope. A story that has already inspired many people.

See Me Not by Real Laplaine“Finding a good read in the universe of self-published books is a prodigious task…Thanks to Twitter I have discovered one of them: See Me Not by Real Laplaine…is about saving a twelve year old girl, who was sold by her father to a criminal gang, which business is slave prostitution.

Written in elegant prose, it is not only about the ills of humanity, but also about hope and optimism which, as the novella suggests, should be part of our lives no matter what…

It is sprinkled with author’s remarks, both witty and elegant, such as… “I think that reality is a hotel that everyone needs to check into once in a while.” Descriptions of sceneries are charming and vivid…“The air was tuned with the muted sounds of humanity. The chatter of cooking utensils, the murmur of children and adults speaking from their dwellings and domains, all of it formed a symphony; a background melody, which made me feel more at ease, as I waited there, hunkered in the dark.”

Overall, it is a good thriller. I give it 4 stars. – Alex Markman, Author of Contra-ODESSA
