Zoomarine Algarve was awarded the "Best Family Experience 2025" award in Portugal as part of the Remarkable Venue Awards, organized by the international platform Tiqets, which celebrates the most exceptional tourism and cultural experiences around the world.
This year's nominees included AquaShow Park Algarve, the Lisbon Oceanarium, and HIPPOtrip Lisbon, with Zoomarine Algarve being the overall winner in the category dedicated to best family experiences.
"Receiving this award is a source of great pride for the entire Zoomarine team. We are committed to providing unique experiences that combine fun and education, raising awareness for entire families about the importance of protecting ecosystems and the species that inhabit them. This international recognition is yet another incentive for us to continue improving and inspiring everyone who visits us," says Tiago Pierotti, executive director of Zoomarine Algarve.
In 2023, the park had already won two Remarkable Venue Awards, both nationally and globally, so this distinction represents the continuation of a journey of excellence and innovation.
Created in 2016, the Remarkable Venue Awards annually recognize the best museums, attractions, and tourist experiences in six countries—France, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom—recognizing the excellence of each destination in the categories of Best Museum, Best Landmark, Best Family Experience, Best Hidden Gem, Best Activity, and Most Remarkable Venue.
About Zoomarine
Since its inception in 1991, Zoomarine Algarve has become a destination of excellence, combining education and entertainment in a way that touches hearts and changes behaviour. With diverse attractions such as zoological exhibits, immersive animal habitats, thrilling rides, and Portugal's largest wave beach, Zoomarine offers visitors an unforgettable experience that is both enlightening and educational. In 2002, in the absence of a specialized structure, it created Portugal's first Marine Species Rehabilitation Center. More recently, based in the park, Zoomarine and the IUCN created the first Species Survival Center focused on Behavior Change, with the purpose of integrating behaviour change into conservation efforts for marine animal species.
