ASB raise €1600 for Gaivota teenagers

ASB raise €1600 for Gaivota teenagersThe last event of the year for the Algarve Senior Bikers was the Christmas Charity Lunch which was held again at the Fatacil Restaurant in Lagoa where Marcelo always looks after us so well.

The money raised at the lunch when added to the charity donation riders make to join our rides throughout year meant that on  the 14th of December I was able to present 1600 euros to the Gaivota Home for teenagers in Albufeira.

Presentation of money to Ricardo Xufre (Director at Gaivota) by David with ASB members Michael Jensen (L) and Peter Moseley (R)I would like to thank all the ASB members who attended the lunch together with those who were unable to come but sent substantial donations for the kids.
A charity ride and barbecue at the home in the summer also raised nearly 400 euros to buy new shoes for all the residents.
Special thanks must go to the following people whose contributions helped make the event a really enjoyable success.
Colin Parkes who kept us entertained with his keyboard music and songs with ASB member Ken Blunt joining in on some of numbers with his flute.
All who gave great raffle prizes including Ian James, Peter and Jane Allen, Michael and Marilyn Jensen.
My wife Dee for making the lovely Christmas brownie won by Valentina Buckton who kindly shared it with all present. Dee also made hundreds of mince pies to sell for the charity.
Prize winners included John Bacon who took away the Motorcycle indicator cancellation device donated by Ian and Peter Kenyon acquired tickets for the World Superbike racing at the Autodromo donated and auctioned by myself.
In conclusion I would like to thank all the members who helped with the organisation of events during the past year and iMergencies - ECDE International.Lda who provide us with the Red Button enabling us to deal with any incidents
occurring on our trips.

I wish all the ASB members a very Happy Christmas and safe enjoyable riding in the New Year!
