A Summer's Day Ride For Algarve Senior Bikers

Algarve Senior BikersIt was a warm summers day on September 20th when 41 motorcyclists of ASB met at Sao Bras de Alportel at 10am for a ride organised by Hans, Phil Smith, Peter Kenyon, Steve Wills and David Shirley.

Split into two groups for a ride east to Alcaria de Cume in the hills with great views to the coast. This ride was dedicated to two ASB members, from opposite ends of the Algarve, who both lost  their personal battle with cancer recently.

Alan Blackburn (left) and Ian James Arriving in the hills near Alcaria de Cume the ride paused at this point to listen to a short speech by ASB organiser David Shirley about Alan Blackburn from the Tavira area, and Ian James from Vale de Telha near Aljuzer.
In respect to Alan and Ian a two minute silence was observed in the peace and quiet of the hills above Tavira. They are both sadly missed and will long be remembered.
All ASB members send condolences to Ian's wife Janice and family and to Alan's wife Jane and family.

Both groups, one led by Hans and and the other by Steve then continued on for a coffee break by the river at Restaurant Paraiso de Serra. Then on over the mountains and down the valley to Cachopo, before a return visit to the Cooperativa at Montes Novas for one of their superb BBQ lunches.
