Algarve Senior Bikers Annual Charity Lunch 2019

Algarve Senior Bikers Annual Charity Lunch 2019Every year the Algarve Senior Bikers has a charity lunch to raise money for Gaivota home for teenagers in Albufeira. Something we have been doing more or less since I started this group almost ten years ago. I would like to thank all who have supported this worthy cause over the years.

This year we also had a BBQ with the kids in June and as a result I was able to hand over more than a 1000 euros to the home at that time.

Following on from that BBQ several members saw and appreciated some of the needs of the home and decided to help even more. All of which helps to improve the lives and living conditions for all the kids in the home.
I must thank the following members for getting involved and doing so much for the kids - Peter and Jane Allen , Stephen and Julie Hall , Asha Mohan and their friends and families.

ASB member Martin Holloway has also been running a quiz night at the Cocktail Garden in Monte Carvoeiro with the proceeds of 1800 euros going to the home.
Other members have donated items such as Televisions, Clothes and Furniture etc. A big thank you to you all.

Algarve Senior Bikers Annual Charity Lunch 2019This year I had the pleasure of celebrating my 80th birthday and 65 years of motorcycling with my family and friends and members at the Algarve Senior Bikers Annual Charity Lunch on December the 12th.
A very enjoyably event attended by 75 members and guests including Sonia and Margarida from the home who thanked the ASB for their ongoing support. The venue was Restaurant O Oliveira in Tunes where we were provided with an excellent lunch.
Some festive music was supplied by The Reel Band and Fiona Wishart won the the Christmas cake made by my wife, Dee. Lunch organiser Steve Wills and Marilyn Jensen took charge of the raffle.
As a result of all this frivolity and donations received I was able to present Gaivota home with the sum of 1650 euros this week!

On personal note I would like to thank all the members who have helped organise ASB rides and events this year, and thank you all for the many kind words, birthday greetings and presents. Early in the new year we will have a planning meeting to sort out the events program for the coming year.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS and SAFE RIDING in 2020.

David Shirley -  ASB Organiser.
