The Rain Did Not Dampen RBC Event

Royal British ClubRBC Comes to Algarve - The Royal British Club made a great splash last Tuesday, when it held a Cocktail evening for around 150 guests and local dignitaries at the historic Estoi Palace. Attendees braved the elements for the inaugural event of the Royal British Club in the Algarve; there is already another event planned for May.

The Royal British Club in Portugal has just celebrated its 125th anniversary and Philip Portal, Chairman of the Club said that it appeared to be just the right time to start events in the Algarve for all the English speakers in the South of Portugal. Philip expressed the Club’s gratitude to Sovereign for its support of this first Algarve event.

The club was particularly pleased to welcome Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Portugal, Jill Gallard, to the inaugural event: the Ambassador is also the President of the Royal British Club. As always the Ambassador entertained the audience with enthusiasm and humour, welcoming the expansion of the club’s activities to the south of Portugal. Her Majesty’s Ambassador was accompanied by the Consul of Lisbon, Simona Demura, Vice-Consul to the Algarve, Clive Jewell and Peter Abbott, Deputy Head of Mission.

The RBC was also delighted to welcome four câmara mayors and representatives from the police forces and navy.
