On Friday 10th of January, the Algarve Senior bikers held their first ride of 2025, with 35 bikes involved in the ride divided into three groups for safety reasons, and out of consideration for other road users.
The members met in Boliqueime for a ride through the hills. Shortly after the start, the nice views of the surrounding countryside and towards the coast were replaced by a less nice close up view of some unforeseen extensive roadworks, which needed some skillful negotiating!
Riders continued through the roads above Salir, before descending down to Querenca for a coffee break at the always popular cafe run by Dona Rosa, in the square opposite the church.
After the coffee break, the route took them towards the west and down through the pretty village of Alte and on cross country, to finish at O Foral restaurant with an excellent lunch of Red Fish or Chicken Curry.
The event was planned by David Shirley who led the first group with the second and third groups led by Andrew Chilton and Roy West.
Assistance provided by David Ryan, Tus Gentes and Peter Kenyon.
The next organized ride will be Western Algarve, on Thursday 13th February. Meet in Silves at Chapim Cafetaria Lounge Bar, in the main car park at 9.45am. Leaving at 10.15 am.
