Rotary District Governor Presents Equipment to São Brás Bombeiros

Rotary ClubEvery year the serving Rotary District 1960 Governor visits each club in the district.  Current Governor Fernando Martins from Rotary Club Palmela has recently been spending time with clubs in the Algarve.  During his official visit to Rotary Club Estoi Palace International, he visited the community projects the club has been involved with during the past year... the ongoing milk project with the Casa do Povo in the Estoi, the refrigerated vehicle recently donated to the Banco Alimentar in Faro, and a tour of the facilities at the volunteer Bombeiros in São Brás de Alportel.

Rotary District Governor presents equipment to São Bras Bombeiros.Accompanied by club President Shirley Dunne and Vice-President Jim Bell, the Governor had the privilege of presenting two items of much-needed equipment – a paediatric board and a ventilator – purchased as part of the District Simplified Grant programme in which the district contributes one-half the total cost of a project.  Initially the equipment was included in the matching grant project to purchase a fully-equipped ambulance, but when the funds became available, it was decided to purchase these two items for immediate use... they can then be added to the ambulance when it arrives later this year.

The Governor also held a brief meeting with the Club’s Board of Directors and commended them for their work in the community and encouraged them to participate in Rotary’s worldwide initiative to eradicate the polio virus.
