Goldra NOW...what's been happening at Goldra this week?

Goldra NOW...what's happening at Goldra this week?Week of 11th April 2016.
Dogs in residence: 120 ?
Dogs adopted this year: 35
Dogs to be adopted this month: 2 to date.

Holly.
Current stories

Holly.
Remember Holly? She was attacked by a wild boar in February and suffered life-threatening injuries. After intensive care on her leg and jaw, she is recovering well, and has good energy levels, but there is still some way to go. Her treatment has cost around 600 euros to date.

Buddy.Buddy.
This is the little guy who wouldn´t leave his dead brother when they were found. He is putting on weight, gaining confidence and making a good deal of noise when seen today at Goldra.

PupsPups.
The three pups found last week at Val d´Eguas are doing well. They will be named at the end of the week, and will soon be available for adoption.

Needs

There are ongoing needs at Goldra about which we cannot be reminded too often. The flow of funds and assistance has not been great in recent months. Two lunches had to be cancelled for lack of support, and the sanctuary is almost literally at hand to mouth exx istence. Jan urgently needs the following:

- Donations of food.
- Cash to help with veterinary treatment – note the Holly case, which is simply the tip of the iceberg.
- Volunteer labour. Three or four hours a week helping to keep the runs clean can make an enormous difference. It gives Jan more time for other essential work, and relieves her and Ray of an energy-sapping aspect of the operation of the sanctuary.

Events and other fund-raising activities

Saturday 16th April. You still have time to book for this lunch at the Restaurant Mediterraneo in Loulé. See the Facebook page for details.
Auction. A Playstation PS3 has been up for auction on the Facebook page for some time. Currently there is only ONE bid. The auction closes at noon on Saturday. Let´s have a bit of competition, yes?

Saturday 14th May. This will be the occasion of the next dog-walking afternoon. You can let Sue know you are coming, but there is no need to ´book´ for this event. As well as the usual fun of taking lots of dogs out for a run, there will be refreshments and a stall to present the animal food products of Husse Portugal, with whom we have just established a new relationship. More on this next week.
