Marine Environment Educational Tour in the Algarve

MARINE ENVIRONMENT EDUCATIONAL TOUR IN THE ALGARVEAIMM, a Portuguese environmental NGO, will organize an Educational and Environmental Tour during the month of May, with schools in the Algarve area.

Marine Environment Educational Tour in the AlgarveThis project aims to increase awareness about the marine environment. The “School on Board Tour” consists of educational sessions divided into two parts: first in the school and then at sea.

For the school part, AIMM will bring their researchers and educators to meet the students, for a theory session; and for the part at sea, these students will go on a field trip aboard a dolphin watching vessel, where they will be able to discover, together with the association’s researchers, the species of marine mammals present in the area.

The schools that will participate in the project will be: the Dr. Garcia Domingues School, in Silves; the D. Martim Fernandes School, in Albufeira; the Guia Basic School and the Padre João Coelho Cabanita Basic School, in Loulé.

In total, the Tour will involve 263 students and 24 teachers.

We count with our partners from two dolphin watching companies in the Algarve, AlgarExperience and Ocean Quest.

This project is financed by the Terre de Femmes Prize, created by the Yves Rocher Foundationand awarded by Yves Rocher Portugal to Drª. Joana Castro, the founder of AIMM.

With this project, AIMM together with everyone involved, intends to strengthen the bond between students and teachers with our ocean, and the importance that the marine environment has in our lives.
