The Algarveans’ Ready to Rock the Cloisters

The Algarveans’ Ready to Rock the CloistersThe Algarveans Theatre Group is only a couple of weeks away from raising the curtain on its forthcoming, nearly sold out (additional date added!) production of Sister Act the Broadway musical, based on the hit film starring Whoopi Goldberg.

International cast of SISTER ACT in rehearsal. The group continues to attract new members, actors and singers, some fresh to the stage and some old pros, but all keen to deliver a great show. This might be the most multinational cast yet, although the production is in English.

Professional director and vocal coach, Carmen Danen, is Dutch, while English choreographer, Shelly Dança, brings a wealth of professional experience to the dance numbers. Deloris Van Cartier who takes refuge in the convent is played by Portuguese Joana Jacob and mobster Curtis is portrayed by Nemerson Ramos originally from Brazil. Furthermore, Canadian Madeleine Wheare taking the role of Mother Superior, is supported by an ensemble of various nationalities: American, British, Brazilian, Canadian, French, Finnish, German and Portuguese.

What do they all have in common? Love of the theatre and commitment to the hard work entailed in bringing this terrific show to the stage.
