Inauguration of the first Peace Post in the Algarve - Nov 19th

Inauguration of the first Peace Post in the Algarve - Nov 19thOn November 19th, 2024, at 12:15 pm,  Vitor Rosão, President of Rotary Club Estoi Palace International, (RCEPI)  will inaugurate the first Peace Post in the Algarve.

This initiative is being jointly organized by the Rotary Club Estoi Palace International, the Rotary Club of Faro and the Rotary Club of Coimbra-Saúde, which is the pioneering club in the installation of Peace Poles in Portugal.

The ceremony will take place, next to the Estoi School (Escola Poeta Emiliano da Costa), in the presence of the Rotary Governor of District 1960, Paulo Taveira de Sousa. The Peace Post Project is an international project and it is estimated that there are currently more than 250,000 Peace Posts around the world.

In mainland Portugal, there are only 3 Peace Poles deployed, all of them in Coimbra. The Peace Poles are today recognized as the most important symbol and international monument to Peace.

Having this symbol and international monument to Peace next to Estoi School in the Algarve, is a way of passing on this important message.  Not only to the Students, Parents, Teachers and Assistants of the School, but also to the entire Community of Estoi and the Algarve, to encourage others to cultivate this message in themselves.

The image that will appear in 8 languages on each of the 4 sides of the pole that will be implanted is, "May peace prevail in the world".
