The Irish community in the Algarve has a renewed sense of connection and energy since the establishment of the Irish Consulate to the Algarve in December 2024.
This years St. Patricks celebrations reflect that dynamism, with a vibrant lineup of events that bring music, culture, tradition and community together.

Dinner Dancing - March 14th, 2025
Starting strong, the Irish consulate invites you to begin the celebrations on the 14th of March at 7pm in the Penina Hotel in Alvor, with Dinner Dancing organised by the St. Patricks Association beginning at 7:30pm.

Family Celebration - March 16th, 2025
A Family Celebration on the 16th of March, with entertainment for all. Children will not only have a chance to have a blast, but also to learn and participate in Irish traditions. At 9.30am meeting at Quinta Shopping for a 10am start and 1pm finish.
At 10am Kids will form a Parade, there will be Traditional Irish Music, Children Performances, followed by Irish Dancing workshop, ending with an amazing Story telling at 12.30pm.
Families will also have the chance to explore stalls from various schools and indulge in authentic Irish food.
St. Patricks Day - March 17th, 2025
On the actual feast of St. Patrick, Faro Airport is proud to recognise the significant Irish presence in the Algarve by lighting up in green.
“On the 17th of March, Faro Airport, part of the ANA | VINCI Airports network, proudly goes Green to recognise the record number of Irish visitors arriving in Portugal through the Algarve. In 2024, the airport welcomed almost one million Irish passengers, and we are delighted to join the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations as a way to honour the strong and enduring ties between Ireland and the region." – Alberto Mota Borges, Faro Airport
Orchestra of the Algarve Concert - March 20th, 2025
The celebrations will come to a close with a grand finale, on the 20th of March at Wyndham Grand in Quinta do Lago, where the Orchestra of the Algarve, will be performing a special Irish-themed repertoire.
Drinks will start at 6:30pm and by 7pm the concert begins under the direction of Conductor Pablo Urbina.
The proceedings from ticket donations (suggested at €20 per ticket) will directly support the Humanitarian Association for Patients with Parkinson and Alzheimer in Quarteira and the Orchestra’s inclusion project for underprivileged communities in the Algarve.
This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of Infraquinta and the Wyndham Grand who join the Consulate in celebrating the invaluable presence of the Irish community in the Algarve.
