From August 01st to 12th 2025, music friends may want to cool off from the summer heat in the Algarve in turning to exciting PORTO PIANO FEST, which presents its 10th Edition since its creation in 2016.
This festival was co-founded by award-winning Portuguese pianist and Artistic Director NUNO MARQUES who was actually one of the early protégés of the AMIGOS DE MUSICA’s Young Portuguese Music Student Scholarship programme launched in 1994 !
Centered around the piano, Porto Pianofest unites musicians from across the globe and at all stages of their careers to perform, teach, learn, and cultivate a vibrant artistic community. Held annually during the first week of August in Porto, the festival is a cornerstone of its mission and will showcase an exceptional lineup of international and Portuguese pianists, blending classical and contemporary music with free and ticketed events, masterclasses and educational residencies, all set in Port’s most atmospheric spaces.
To make our audience’s experience even better, these concerts are followed by a wine tasting from Portugal’s oldest vinho verde producers, Soalheiro.
From large scale concerts at the very modern Casa da Música, a 1,200-seat hall built by Rem Koolhas, to the more intimate settings at the prestigious hall of the Rectory of the University of Porto, the historic Palácio da Bolsa, the magical outdoor garden of the Guerra Junqueiro Museum also called Museum”Romántico”
The opening concert features Baptiste Trotignon Trio at contemporary CASA DA MUSICA, and several concerts and recitals with internationally renowned artists will be held at various venues including the REITORIA da Universidade do Porto, the enchanting MUSEU ROMANTICO and this year also the gardens of the beautiful MUSEU de SERRALVES! The finale will take place on August 12th in the prestigious PALACIO da BOLSA.
Tickets at Casa de Música from €12.50 -25 are available at FNAC, or via the festival website www.portopianofest.com, some events are free of charge, and a Festival Pass obtained for €100 opens access to all concerts and events!
By bridging European and North American approaches to music education, the festival fosters artistic growth through world-class performances and innovative educational residencies. This year’s 10th edition will feature artists like Artur Pizarro, Alexander Kobrin, Anthony de Mare, Baptiste Trotignon Trio, Francesco Ciniglio, Lilliana de los Reyes and Nicole Wakabayashi.
Porto’s unique blend of tradition and innovation provides the ideal setting for this celebration of music.
