One of the Algarve's most anticipated technology conferences brings together 150+ attendees and 12 speakers for a full day of pioneering talks, hands-on workshops, a brand new Community Lounge and networking, with lunch and coffee included.
GeekSessions,the non-profit community that has been part of the Algarve's growing tech scene, is back with the next edition of its annual conference. GeekSessionsConf2026 takes place on 21st March 2026 at the IPDJ (Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude) venue in Faro, and tickets are now available.
Twelve speakers covering everything from AI in tourism and sign language with generative AI to open source agents, the small web and a fireside chat on communities and ethics in the age of AI. There are also hands-on workshops, including one on building agents with Gemini and Gemma.
One thing we're particularly excited about: Making Art In My Dreams, an animated VR documentary by Finnish director Leena Jääskeläinen, will be shown in Portugal for the first time. The piece was previously featured at the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale in Finland, and one of the artists in the experience, Dorina Owindi, is a participant in the LOFT community here in the Algarve. The VR installation is being brought to Faro by Bruno Dores and Joana Sousa from Squared Potato.
Speakers will share real stories and practical knowledge across topics such as Robotics, Hardware and Makers, Civic and Environmental Impact, Travel and Tourism Tech, Opensource, Health Tech and Cybersecurity.
Beyond the talks, attendees can expect hands-on workshops, networking breaks throughout the day and an afterparty from 17:00 onwards. Lunch and coffee are included in the ticket price, which is kept symbolic to cover meals and reduce no-shows.
Introducing the Community Map
New for 2026, GeekSessions is launching the Community Map exhibition, which opened at IPDJ on 13 March with over 30 projects from communities across the region, also becomes part of the conference on the day, with live demos and the chance to talk to the people behind the projects, featuring a map of local communities, a curated selection of projects spanning tech, art, games and social impact.
